A mindful breath. A pose held with ease. A release into Self. Yoga is a powerful path to freedom of mind and body. At Open Sky Yoga Center in Rochester, NY, we honor your journey and offer expert guidance along the way. Join us. Explore a full range of motion that respects the integrity of the human body. Cultivate flexibility, strength, and balance. Open to a deeper experience of life.. .

François Raoult M.A., R.I.Y.T. is dedicated to teaching yoga with awareness, integrity and compassion. He first felt the call to yoga at age 19, on a pilgrimage to the sacred sites of India. For a decade, he toured Europe with an avant garde puppet theater and composed music for the plays. The manipulation of string puppets led him to explore yoga and tai chi. François began teaching in 1975. A year later, he started extensive training with the great yogi Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. A graduate of the Ecole Nationale de Yoga in Paris and a Certified Iyengar Instructor, he has studied meditation with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, Ayurveda with Dr. Robert Svoboda, and anatomy with Thomas Myers. After studying architecture and philosophy, trekking and recording sacred music in the Himalayas, he completed a Masters in ethnomusicology. In addition to directing Open Sky Yoga Center and its creative Teacher Training program in Rochester, NY, he teaches yoga seminars worldwide.

"Join us for one week of yoga and meditation at Le Hameau de L’Etoile, a spectacular retreat center in Provence-Languedoc. Our days together begin with early morning pranayama practice. The later morning classes will explore the foundations of a Yoga practice through the cycles of classical poses (standing, seated, back arcs, spinal rotations and inversions). These energetic sessions will aim to build strength, stamina and increase flexibility. Done with precision and mindfulness, active poses can bring an experience of harmony and lightness after the cessation of effort. The late afternoon classes will be devoted to restorative poses and deep relaxation. These practices open the body to receive the lifeforce and healing of the breath. After dinner, evenings are free. Registering a maximum of 30 students per group—we hope to encourage a quiet, attentive atmosphere. Classes will be taught in English."
